Outstanding experience from start to finish. We were fortunate to secure a rez on the same day. The omakase was perfectly paced, so delicious, and the beverage pairing was on point.

Such a reasonably priced omakase! The corkage fee is only $35, which is a great deal. The taste, the portions—everything was excellent. It’s a hidden gem with no reason not to go. I’m definitely going every time I come to San Francisco. This is the second sushi spot opened in SF by the owner of Sushi Jin, and the quality is so good, it’s totally worth the money.

Wonderful experience and quite an intimate one at Hinata. We had around a 12 course omakase meal with a lovely vibe. It was a great balance of fish and we'd definitely come back. With 2 hot sakes and an additional roll for each of us, our bill came out to $450. I'd price it more around $300 for the quality that we experienced. Gavin did a great job keeping us happy and we'd love to see him again.

Chef Gavin was exceptional. Every piece of sushi was exquisite. Val our server was very knowledgeable about his beers, which were very crisp and clean. Unfortunately my reservation was at 8pm, got sat at 8:23pm. Just paying over 576 usd for two people, I expect the service to be impeccable. Anways the omakase was very affordable but we had add-ons. Sadly next time we visit, Gavin omakase experience will more expensive because it's worth every penny. I'm glad my first omakase was here.

In brief, pretty good omakase, especially for the value —18 pieces for a little over $120. None of the courses did I think were “not fresh.” Again, will recommend for the value. My only critique is the chef should give us new plates instead of wiping down our plates with the SAME cloth for each person.

We made a reservation for 5 on a Thursday afternoon at 5:30pm. It wasn’t too busy and there was street parking right in front. We were welcomed by the friendly staff and we opted to sit at a table and not at the bar. They knew we were there celebrating a birthday and were really accommodating. We wanted to drink sake so we first got both flights (6) to taste test them and we ended up going with Diaginjo Kinka. We enjoyed our meal and it flowed well especially while our group was chatty, I personally like the fatty tuna and salmon nigiri’s and all of the extra different type of portions. They do the traditional hand and finger towel or you can use your chopsticks. We added on the supplemental plate and amaebi (sweet shrimp). We were so full and they were so nice they let us cut our cake there! There wasn’t a menu for the omakase so I didn’t know how many pieces we had but the servers were good at explaining along the way. There is bar seating, a small private area and tables, but definitely traditional Japanese style, lighting, and feel.

All around 5 stars! From the service to the wine/sake selection. Chef Kyle and their som Chica gave us an incredible experience. And let’s talk about VALUE!! I don’t know many omakase spots that give you that much and cost that little. Snow crab bite was the star!!!⭐ Will be back.

I absolutely love Hinata! Every time I’m in SF, I make sure to stop by for omakase. The fish is always incredibly fresh, the ambiance is fantastic, and they have a great selection of sake. The chefs are a lot of fun, and adding on extra pieces is always worth it. I still remember their homemade sesame ice cream—it was so delicious. I’ll keep coming back whenever I’m in San Fran!
